How Is COPD Treated
COPD and asthma are two of the most common pulmonary diseases. With them being amongst the most common, this means they have more treatments available. For COPD which is a group of lung diseases that block airflow such as bronchitis and emphysema, a treatment they use is supplemental oxygen if it is needed. The body needs oxygen to do most everything such as chores, going shopping etc., oxygen is what our bodies uses to essentially power our organs (American Lung Association, 2019). Oxygen can be used in the hospital but can also but used at home with a portable oxygen device. It can be used to help patient’s who don’t get enough oxygen. For Patient’s with Asthma, technological advances has helped patient’s and providers take care of serious diseases. Things like apps are really helpful in tracking their medications, symptoms, triggers and more. An example of an app like this is Wizdy Pets which is used to help children treat and manage their asthma (Laskowski, 2016). This app makes asthma more of a game which can be enticing to children and makes it more fun for them to learn. Laskowski, A. (2016, June 6).
