7 Freudian Literature One of the strangest books I’ve ever read was Kafka’s The Metamorphosis…which I read in German (even stranger). Talk about insecurity–in it, the protagonist awakes (in a dream?) to find himself transformed into a large insect.
How might such a tale reflect Freudian thought? Or is there another, perhaps Joyce or Proust, whose works reflect Freud’s “new psychology?”
